PAC's conference on 'Sustainability of Democracy in Pakistan'

WASHINGTON: The Pakistani American Congress, an umbrella organization of Pakistani associations in North America, held its 18th annual conference on Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C. on June 24. This year's topic was 'Sustainability of Democracy in Pakistan'. PAC's president Dr. Muhammad Akram chaired the panel discussion while Dr. Nisar Chaudhry, PAC's former president, moderated the proceedings.

The discussants included Dr. Robert Hathaway (Director Asia Program, Woodrow Wilson Center), Dr. Marvin Weinbaum (Scholar-in-Residence, Middle East Institute), Jonathan S. Landay (Intelligence Correspondent, McClatchy Newspapers), and Dr. Stephen Cohen (Senior Fellow, Brookings Institution).

The panel discussion was followed by a 'Questions and Answers' session. The day's proceedings were punctuated by speeches of the Pakistani community's friends in the American Congress. (-- R. F.).
