PAC's conference on 'Sustainability of Democracy in
Pakistan'
WASHINGTON: The Pakistani
American Congress, an umbrella organization of Pakistani
associations in North America, held its 18th annual conference
on Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C. on June 24. This year's topic
was 'Sustainability of Democracy in Pakistan'. PAC's president
Dr. Muhammad Akram chaired the panel discussion while Dr. Nisar
Chaudhry, PAC's former president, moderated the proceedings.
The discussants included Dr.
Robert Hathaway (Director Asia Program, Woodrow Wilson Center),
Dr. Marvin Weinbaum (Scholar-in-Residence, Middle East
Institute), Jonathan S. Landay (Intelligence Correspondent,
McClatchy Newspapers), and Dr. Stephen Cohen (Senior Fellow,
Brookings Institution).
The panel discussion was followed
by a 'Questions and Answers' session. The day's proceedings were
punctuated by speeches of the Pakistani community's friends in
