It's Cricket Time
Posted April 12, 2009

As the regular cricket season is about to begin in Washington DC metro area, cricket loving immigrants can be spotted bowling, batting, and fielding in several locations. A group  of young Pakistani-Americans was caught in action this Sunday (April 12) while playing friendly 'tape-ball' games at Patrick Henry Elementary School (Taney Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia, USA). Following are the glimpses of the evening spent. Click on any image to enlarge it.   (Click here to WATCH VIDEO)

Ready for action

Waiting for the ball?

Tennis ball wearing tape to face bat or knock wickets

I'm ready...

Bowler and batsman ready to face off

Take it easy. I'm home.

Getting bored or getting lazy?

Where did the ball go?

Playing cricket on the baseball field...

Wicket keeping was never an easy task

Let me catch this ball

Was a good delivery?

Is this a dangerous bowler? Ask the umpire.

The wind was furious, too

A balancing act

Na. It was not a boundary.

Hard chase

Three balls to go. No. Two balls to go...and so on.

Negotiating a stroke

Hey! I'm here to play, too.

Learning the ropes

What are you guys playing? It's called cricket.

Water break

Water break continues

Time to go home

One more ball, please

Before we say goodbyes

I got some style, too

Check this.

See you guys next weekend
